Confederate medical service papers, 1864-1865.

William H. Dulaney was examined by the Surgeon General's Office, Confederate Army and accepted into medical service. Surgeon General Samuel P. Moore issued a favorable report on 16 February 1864 to Dulaney as acting assistant surgeon in Lynchburg, Virginia; on 11 April L.T. Gilmore, President of the Medical Examining Board, Dept. of East Tennessee, issued a favorable report appointing Dulaney to a position as surgeon; Surgeon General Moore issued a promotion order for Dulaney on 12 October 1864. Special Orders No. 276 authorized a 20-day leave of absence for Dulaney on 14 November 1864. On the verso of a 25 January 1865 parole furlough for Private G.M. Turner, Co. G, 11th Virginia Infantry is a ration issued for one meal at way hospital, Burkville, Virginia, 27 January 1865.

Dulaney, William H. (William Hedgman), 1819-1905.

William H. Dulaney served as an assistant surgeon in the 9th Georgia Battalion Artillery and as surgeon in the 13th Virginia Battalion, Light Infantry. He was commissioned as a captain in the Confederate States Army. Born in Woodstock, Virginia, Dulaney married Louisa Owen in 1842 in Montgomery County.
